This site is to honor veterans and soldiers, not your glorified useless words about the dirty underwear you sucked on, and the Company Commanders that wouldn't let you into their bunks late at night. SHUT UP already, this isn't a forum for you to bash bootcamp memories since they didn't go your way. ya Cocktease!

As a military man, I can appreciate many of the hardships you are experiencing. My thoughts and prayers are lifted for each of you as you stand in the forefront, in the fight against terrorism of the worst kind. Never have we fought to conquer, but to liberate, and that is something we can all be very proud of. Happy belated veterans day! We are still at war against terrorism. Hopefully, someday this will change! I especially wan't to hand it to our females serving for a country where they are unappreciated, unwanted in the armed forces, and have it ten times harder than the men. I was in from 1992-1994, during a time where we had the don't ask don't tell policy, just after the tail-hook scandal. Policy stated sexual harassment was no joke, but you knew uncle sam could do anything the wanted and threaten you to keep your mouth shut.Just ask my CC Ronald Vetter and Tina Honea! NOt only was i touched, and singled out; but women diddn't coun't. Maybe someday the times will change!!If everyone had the option to walk away it wouldn't be that way. My prayers are with the president's family, as he has the most stressful job of all! jaila

When I was posting my comment's about our govt. I forgot to say thanks to the people supporting us veterans. I will NEVER be sorry I served, It is to bad the US GOVERNMENT (THE NAVY)As a whole, doesn't appreciate their service members with the same respect you are giving. OUR TROOPS ARE NOT TOILET TISSUE, YOU USE AND THROW AWAY AS THOUGH IT WAS NOTHING; WITHOUT US YOU HAVE NOTHING. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to post my point of view. In China for instance it isn't so. Maybe this message will someday make a difference like i tried to while I was in, YOU NEVER KNOW!

Hello & THANKS to all who have served and are serving in the Armed Forces. A special thank you to all that have fought and/or died to protect the freedoms that so many in the country take for granted. I am happy to say that my family members (father, brother, and cousin) have proudly served (4 branches. . .Coast Guard, Army, Navy, National Guard, and reserve duty in two of those)! And, I have gained many values from both their service and my observations having lived on military bases my entire childhood. I proudly display the flag at my home and from my vehicle and have long since before September 11th happened. I often think of and shed tears for those we've lost and the ones away from home & I thank god that the ones I saw go have come home again. Please know your service, at times of war AND PEACE, is vastly appreciated and you will not be forgotten!!!!!!!!!

When I was a little girl, the man I looked up to most was my big brother, Mark Curtis. He was in the United Stated Marine Corps. I knew there was a reason he had to be away for such a long time, and I missed him. I almost went in, but god sent me to the Navy instead. I followed him in. I looked up to them and they let me down, but you know, I gave it my best and that is what matters most. Maybe just maybe by me speaking out, someone who is high up in charge will see just what you lost so when you take another recruit who just wants to serve you in your arms; you will make he or she like the man my big brother was instead of throw her away and treat her as though she were nothing so that more will wan't to serve you with all their heart and all their soul like I DID MY BEST TO, and just maybe we will win this war! jaila

We would like to Thank, Korean War Veteran "Woodrow Allen Anderson". We have enjoyed the pleasure of freedom all of our lives, never having to go to a foreign land, never having to leave the comforts of our home land. You went and served you country, when you were called. You came back, there were no hero's welcome. You struggled with the every day turmoil of life. And when you life came to an end, I don't ever remember thanking you for your service to our country. So I want the world to know, you were our hero. Thank You for our freedom and our children's freedom and our grandchildren's freedom. God Bless you "Uncle Woody".

So many people do not realize the risk you have taken to protect our country, but many of us do. I served for two-years in the United States Navy and recieved an honorable medical discharge. I have all the respect in the world for our troops, and wish them the very best; as some of them are probaly at war now. I was on the USS PUGET SOUND AD 38. Norfolk, VA was my duty station.I however will say this about our government. Our government was inhumanely cruel to my company. MY COMPANY COMMANDERS NAMES WERE TINA HONEA AND RONALD VETTER. They put dirty underwear in some of our faces, treated us like we were garbage, they made their own rules, diddn't instill teamwork, would single certain people they diddn't like and cycle them for mistakes made, when it should have been a team effort. We were called names, humiliated, and all for what?? To serve our country who needed us during the Persian Gulf War.You know what, I thank all our veterans for the service they GAVE our country; but not the government for the unnecessary bull crap. I was 18 when I wen't in, still a baby. I gave my best, and if it wasn't good enough; then do it yourselves; because this white squaw will expose you for the nasty pigs you were and not serve another day for you. It is your loss and if there is a way, I will let the whole country know how sorry you were; so they don't go into the NAVY expecting to be treated right. GOD BLESS YOU JASON SCOTT CURTIS AND ALL OUR TROOPS, PLEASE GOD BRING THEM HOME WITH THEIR VERY LIVES; AND MAY THIS NOTE MAKE A DIFFERENCE AS MY STORY PUTS TAIL HOOK TO SHAME!

Fellows, I have not been in the service but I volunteered in 1988; I was rejected on account of calcium deposits on my knees... even though I was in the best shape of my life and had come right out of two years of playing scholarship college football for two years. I had qualified EWQ and I was at MEPS in Dallas, TX when the Army doctor disqualified me - I was absolutely crushed! I suppose that we were reaping the benefits of the 'peace dividend' at that moment in history and recruiting quotas likely did not favor my joining the service. Anyhow, I come from a humble family in rural N. Central Texas. My folks had never seen the inside of a college lecture hall. I graduated high school with a class of 17 in a small farm town. After being rejected from service, I moved to the big city of Arlington, TX and finished my degree. Now, ten years later, I have done okay for myself. I travel all over the country now as a consultant and I make a comfortable living. I had to write because I want you all to know how much I feel for those serving all over the globe and especially those of you in Afghanistan and particularly in Iraq. I have these opportunities that I have described because of the contributions of those likes of you. I have no idea what sort of exposure you have to western media while you are serving abroad. I just want you all to know that I personally feel very emotional each time I watch or read the news and hear about what has happened during the previous 24 hours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Iraq and somewhat less frequently Afghanistan are constantly in the media here in the U.S. It's on the front page, on every local and national news program and especially on the Sunday morning news programs. It is in our faces every day. Even though we cannot see through your goggles and feel your pains and your discomfort, I try to do so. I imagine what it must be like to live from day to day, even from hour to hour performing your duties. I try to think about those of you on the front lines, on patrol, at check points, in supply lines - doing without and doing the best you can on the other side of the world, removed from your families. Chamberlain and Daladier gave half of Europe to the nazis and boasted that they'd achieved peace with honor by signing the Munich Treaty. Less than two years later, France was raped and plundered by the nazis and folks in London were sleeping in subways and bomb shelters. UN resolution 1441 was the 'Versailles Treaty' of postwar Iraq; Bush and Blair had learned thier lesson from history and they were determined not to repeat "Nevilles Folly". I feel like the U.S. had a duty to use force in Afghanistan and Iraq. Even still, I try to imagine your everyday hardships and from time to time, I arrange my reality around a paradigm of that imagination. Lord Byron, an Englishman, died fighting for Greece against the Turks. I suppose he felt that the cradle of democracy was too precious to allow Greece to fall to the hands of a relatively barbaric regime. Our brothers in Iraq and Aghganistan fight for the same reason - they are enlightened - and as such, they are responsible to their fellow humans on the other side of the globe. Many of you will be there for an extended period; some of you expected to be en route back to the U.S. only to find that your tour would be extended. Some of us back home don't try veyr hard to appreciate your sacrifice - but many, many more of us do try very hard to do so. What I really wanted to say is that in the morning, when I turn on the T.V. and I hear that one of you have been killed or injured, I listen intently. I imagine what happens next - the notice that is sent to the family and so on; did the soldier have a wife - family? What if that was me? After I try to imagine that painful ordeal, I think about the soldier's friends there and how they carry on knowing that their brother/sister had been killed and that it could have easily been them instead. I don't mean to bring anyone down. I also feel immense pride in my country on account of how you are serving. I like to think that, had I been accepted into service back in '88, I would serve dutifully as well. I know that it is naive but I ask you to please be safe and be careful. God bless you, each and every one. Sincerely, James Donnell

I met an Airforce vet at my local grocery store yesterday. He was proudly wearing a hat he had received for reaching his 35th anniversary (must have been in Vietnam). When I thanked him, he told me I was only the 5th person in 35 years to do that. That's a shame. THANK YOU to all those who have served or are serving in our armed forces.

I just wanted to thank all those men who served in Vietnam. My husband is a Vietnam vet and he still has some mental problems because of the war. He even gave up a career in baseball just to serve a country that treated these boys like dirt when they returned home. He didn't want to go but it was his duty. I am so proud that he did his part and I try to convey that to him. He does not wish anyone to go through what he did, he survived and that says something about his spirit. His biggest wish is to visit the Wall in Washington. I think this will somehow add some closure to a painful past that I am sure he would rather forget. We need to remeber all those who have served in the wars we have had and I hope and pray that the war in Iraq will not turn into another Vietnam. We need to pray for peace so that no ones loved one will ever have to fight in a senseless war again.

To all of our military, serving at home and abroad -- thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for putting yourselves into harm's way; thank you for the months spent away from your family and friends, often in hostile territory; thank you for understanding and upholding the principle of "freedom through military victory" -- or "speak softly and carry a big stick." America has already tried the "speak softly" and this enemy did not respond so we are now welding our "big stick." And you do it so well. We are proud of you -- DO NOT LET WHAT YOU HEAR IN THE PRESS dishearten you. Because, we the people of America, support each and every one of you. And I speak to you on a personal level as the mother of an Airman, serving stateside but due for deployment later this year. And to every soldier from other countries, Britain, Australia, etc., thank you for your service beside our men and women. Thank you for understanding that 9/11 was not just an attack on the USA but an attack on freedom throughout the world. Thank you for understanding that we stand at a pivotal crossroad in history: do we give in and allow terriorists to dictate to us, the free world, or do we stand and fight to spread and maintain freedom throughout the world. Finally, simply, THANK YOU.

A theater group I am in, is doing a production call "A Piece of My Heart" by Shirly Lauro on March 5,6,12, & 13, 2004. I portray a 21 year old army nurse sent to "volunteered" for Viet Nam, Cu Chi. My only hope and prayer is that I do it justice in honoring you. it seems that I have always just missed the correct age to be where I was most needed so... I still took the calling to be and R.N., a surgical one at that, and I've fought my battles here stateside. Reading books, and meeting a nurse that served in Viet Nam excited me to learn more about you. Now that I am a nurse portraying a Viet Nam nurse I am more than just excited, I lower my humble head to you out of respect for you. My prayers and hopes today are, that I do these great women justice by the character I portray as a nurse in Viet Nam. I still have trouble saying some of my lines without sheding tears. If anyone of you are in the Little Rock area on the nights of this play and have nothing better to do, please give us a chance to honor you in public the best way we can, by acting out your experiences. If at all possible, please honor us with your appearance. Maybe there will be somethings that make you smile, or laugh, or become teary eyed, or sometime cry and let that long needed cry cleanse a memory of so long ago. It is often taken for granted the freedom we Americans possess. Not just our freedom to come and go as we please, but also, to vote, marry whom we choose, spend as much money as we want, have babies, go to school, go to work, lay reading in the swing on our front porch, talk on the telephone, email friends, sing to our children, and the list goes on and on. The only, and I do mean only, reason we have these freedoms are because of men and women to have served in our military; keeping us free by doing our fighting for us. I want to thank each one of you. My son is from the 3-17 Cav Unit from Fort Drum NY and is also currently stationed in Kandahar,Afghanistan. He inlisted from high school and soon after was deployed to Afghanistan. I had the oportunity to sit down and speak with him and some of the other soldiers from Fort Drum just a few days before they were deployed. I couldn't help but to think that these guys are so young, still children, as they spoke of events from the past few days. My son was the only one in our small group of about seven people who was fortunate enough to see his family before leaving, everyone else was from out of state. There was one soldier who is only about 19 years old and never hears from his family. When my son gets the chance to call home he always tell me to please thank everyone who writes and sends packages because thats what keeps him connected to home. "There are so many guys here who have no one Mom" So... to all of those soldiers out there, I would like to say thank you and God Bless you from the bottom of my heart. To all of the families who have loved ones in the military: My heart goes out to you and I can understand your pain, knowing that so many people really care does help doesn't it. Thanks!! What else can we say as Free Americans. Thanks to all those who serve and have served. Died, to make our country safe and free! Here in Michigan we started an annual motorcycle run to the capitol building every year. Last year was the 1st and we orginized it in three weeks. We had over 1200 motorcyclist converge on the capitol bldg. We had TV and Radio coverage and it started out as Protest the Protesters Run but ended up being the Enduring Freedom Run! We met in Grand Rapids Michigan and ended up in Lansing, our state capitol. Many people showed up from accross the state! Every town we went through the police blocked traffic and people were standing along the road waiving flags and cheering us on. The local VFW had an Honor Gaurd out with all the flags flying! It was unbelievable the support that was shown that cold day in May! I think it was 36 degress when we headed out! We would like to see this happen in every state and have started our own webpage for information on the run! We are hoping to see 5000 motorcyclist this year! I am an ABATE of Michigan member and would ask that all ABATE groups every where support this in your state. Thank you again for your efforts and sacrafice on the part of all Americans!

Dear Soldiers, It simply breaks my heart as I watch the news everyday and hear that another soldier of ours has been killed. Sometimes I want all this to end so that no more soldiers get killed, etc. I also think that if our soldiers were not there to make "our America" a better place, where would we be. I don't have children fighting in the war, but I do have friends and above all, I'm a mother and every soldier there has a loved one that must be worried and scared of what might happen to their loved one/s or if they'll get to see them again. I pray for their strength and comfort. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for fighting for my freedom. Although I don't know who you are, I pray for you every day so that God may protect you from harm and strength. You are doing an excellent job and today I bow to you. You are a hero to me regardless of the outcome. Many things are innevitable and sometimes we wonder why must this happen, but, I know that at the end we will be victorious! May God Be With you always and please come home safe.

How can we ever thank you enough for all the sacrifices that you and all of our armed forces have made to keep us safe and able to "sleep in peace." Not only have you placed your self in danger of life -- but I know the wonderful blessings of having family together -- especially at this time of the year. But, God made that first sacrifice when He sent His Son, Jesus to die for us that we too might live and sleep in peace forever. My prayers are with you and all of the others. Hello! and Merry Christmas! I am NOT going to "thank you for protecting our freedoms," which is ridiculous because that is not what you are doing at all! but I am going to thank you for protecting the freedoms of the Iraqi people and making it really possible for them to shake off the shakles of their past and have a real possibility at creating a democratic country they can live in. They could never have done this without outside intervention. Without you and all your friends, they would never have a prayer, not even a chance to attempt it. Although realising the opportunity of the moment is not easy when it comes so quickly, you have given them the space, the chance, the time, and the support to make it possible, if they can manage to overcome their differences and pull together. To do this, to be part of what made this possible for so many people, is a really wonderful thing. Thank you. for them. They may be too stupid, too ignoranct, too misinformed, to unsophisticated to realize they owe you thanks themselves. Don't mind that. Keep your eyes on the possibilities for a better future, not on the difficulties of the present and you will win! Evil looks stronger than good, but good never fades away, and evil does. Nothing can destroy the longing in the hearts of people to be happy, to be safe, to be free.

I can hardly find words to express how full my heart is with gratitude for you and the other people doing the horrible job overseas that's so necessary to keep others from infringing upon the freedom we so blessedly experience in the United States of America. Our country was founded under, prospered because of, and protected by the God who created Heaven and Earth. I believe horribly devastating things are happening to and in our country because God is so unhappy with so many "Americans" turning against Him, that He is lifting His umbrella of protection from us. If you and your fighting comrads haven't done so already, please consider asking God to forgive your sins and become your Lord and Savior so you can live forever with God after you die. That is the only road to Heaven. Jesus says, in the Bible, that He is the Truth, the Way, and the Life, that no man can come to the Father (God) except through Him. I pray you will be able to come home safe and sound to a country that welcomes you with open arms. Whether you choose to trust God with your life, because of Jesus dying on the cross to pay for your sins, or not, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting your life in harms way to protect me, as an American. I will never know the sacrifices you are making, but I want you to know how much I appreciate you. I have been praying for you and will continue to do so. Even though I don't know you personally, I love you for what you are doing and appreciate you emensely. Keep up the good work. May God Bless you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, with guidance, protection, warmth, and the comfort of His presence. And may God Bless America. Know that you are not forgotten. I hug you to my heart. From your fellow American.

JFK stated: "The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it -and the glow from that fire can truly light the world. And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." THANKS to all who serve...past and present for keeping this nation and our freedom glowing for all the world to see!

Dear Brave and Courageous Defender of FREEDOM for the people of Afghanistan, I am the widow of a sailor who spent two deployments in the Persian Gulf 1980-1981 and 1990-1991. I did not agree with our President to invade Iraq. But as he doesn't often listen to the quiet majority, he ordered our military to go there; as he sent you to Afghanistan do the dirty work of politicians. In neither place will the effort to change the population and rebuild the countries be over any time soon. I support YOU 100 percent. I appreciate you more than you will ever know. You are all my children as I have none of my own. Therefore, I pray for your safety and return home to your families. I sympathize with those of you whose friends and comrades will never see their families again. As a Christian, I want to wish you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS, and as an open minded individual, I want to wish you HAPPY CHANUKAH, HAPPY KWANZAA, and any other celebrations occurring at this time of year. Oh, HAPPY NEW YEAR and may it be not only happy, but SAFE!

Just want to pass on some advice I was given when I was discharged: If you had any injuries of any kind, take the time to fill in a little bit more paper work declaring your injuries at the time of discharge,it doesn't take much time and helps you be able to file a claim later if you need to. I had a service connected injury and receive compensation for my service disabiley. Also,I became a "Life Member"of the "Disabled American Veterans". They have done a lot to help all veterans! To thank a veteran, well for me that could be as simple as thanking my husband, father, brother, brother in-law, uncles, aunt, niece and nephew. We come from a long line of "serve our country" folks. My neighbors and their sons & daughters and so on. Thanks also to the family and friends that pray for those still serving. And for the family that has to sit at home and carry on while those in service are gone. That too takes guts. Bless our leaders that they make decisions based on right and truth and not over some self vendictive reasons. May God watch over each and ever service person, in this country and overseas. And may those that have suffered a loss, feel the prayers we pray in their hearts and may it make their losses just a bit more tolerable. So thank you to every vet that has served and those that will serve in the future. God Bless America.

A veteran once asked of me what I thought a vet or any soldier was. After thinking for a long time, I knew. A Veteran or any Soldier is a plain person who does an extraodinary job. They give of themselves for others to the point that may give up their lives. They do it for people they love and for more that they don't know. How many of the those who stay behind would do the same? God bless all our men and women. Let them all know we love and thank them all, no matter where they are!

When I was much younger I was against any war, but as I matured, I not only supported a war against evil tyrants, but joined the Air Force to do my part as well. I still support to this day the most free Government in the world, and although I never dreamed that another government would ever attack us firmly believe that we should rid the world of non-free countries. Here for the grace of God are we, and why should we be the only people on Earth to have that freedom? I sincerely pray for your safe and quick return to this great nation. I can't know how any of you feel about the fact that we have in office the first President with a criminal record, and one of the biggest liars that ever was in there. I guess that it is funny to most that his and his driving record has disappeared, but maybe next election, we will elect some drug dealer, and scum of the earth person, after all that seems to be the trend here in the states. There are no words that I can think of to express to you how very grateful I am that the United States has such fine men and women as those of you who serve in our Armed Forces. Because of you and others like you, past and present, we will remain free. Hopefully that kind of freedom will be afforded to others because you choose to serve. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God truly bless and protect you. I pray that you all come home safely very soon.

I just want to thank all of our soldiers and veterans for fighting to protect our freedom and our way of life. Know that you are fighting (or have fought) for what is right. Without your sacrifices, America would not be the great country that it is today and will continue to be for generations to come.

I am 10 years old and wanted to tell you that I am proud of all of you for helping to keep a safe place for me and my family. I am proud to be an American. Every since 9-11 I am telling me that I am a proud American I never really thought about it before that time, and it takes the people like you all to help us stay free and not have another 9-11. Thank you all. And thank you for catching the bad men.

Congratulations for a job well done... we are extremely proud of each of you. Our prayers are constantly being channeled to each of you. May God watch over and protect each of you. We will be thinking of you all most especially as we celebrate Christmas. We will light several dozens luminarias on Christmas Eve to light the way for our Holy Family ... the luminarias will represent (you)our soldiers abroad. We also still have yellow ribons tied to our trees ... the ribbons will not be removed until all of you are home safe. Merrry Christmas and May God bless you all. Lyn
